The measurement head
Motion, focus, and imaging — all automated.
Under the lid: a motorized stage sweeps the sample beneath a cooled monochrome camera, focusing itself and holding calibration slot to slot. Load a coupon or fill the stage with several, mark the regions, and walk away.
A monochrome, thermoelectrically-cooled sensor built for sensitivity, with 16-bit depth that preserves fine detail.
